Boone Among Athletes Highlighted in TV Show
Aaron Boone is generally regarded as one of the ‘good guys’ in baseball, and his return to the Major League field in 2009 — even if just for 13 hitless at bats — after open heart surgery (!) in March was one of the great stories in sports. And, as a Yankees fan, one of my best sports memories is of course his ALCS-winning home run in 2003. We won’t talk about any of his other at-bats in that post-season, but that one shining moment lives on forever.
I ran into a link to a syndicated television program called “Sharing Miracles,” featuring an interview with Boone, discussing his career and comeback. When I saw that the show is produced by something called the “Partnership for Prescription Alliance,” I was thinking this might just be an infomercial for whatever the drug companies are pushing, and there are plenty of links to those commercial efforts and a couple of promotional spots on the video. But the interview was quite interesting and worth a look, available free on the site.
The program has featured many other athletes among its interview subjects, including baseball players Joe Torre, Jon Lester and Darryl Strawberry. Some others recently profiled are Super Bowl champions Jerome Bettis, Mike Ditka and Len Dawson as well as Dominique Wilkins and Jim Calhoun from the world of basketball.
The show airs mostly on community access and small local channels in markets nationwide.
